Rob Abbott is a seasoned songwriter singer and musician living on the South Coast of the UK and playing and writing in a psych flavoredflavoured folk pop style. Born to a folk obsessed mother, Rob became infatuated with 50’s rock’n’roll and rhythm and blues as a teen. He spent his 20’s as bass player in a psych prog rock band, his 30’s discovering Americana and now finds himself becoming evermoreever more drawn towards folk music again. Artists name checked might be Chuck Berry, Elliot Smith, Paul Simon, Steve Miller and Nick Lowe.

‘In The Briny’ - debut album launch.
In the Briny, the album is to be filed under psychedelic, acoustic folk-pop. Songwriter Rob Abbott has pulled all his musical strands together and put them into these recorded songs. “ I have seafaring ancestors and I have lived all my life within a spit of the sea. Nautical imagery seeps into many of my songs. I can't seem to help myself. Am I a good sailor? No- I get seasick on a pedalo. I try not to let that hold me back.”
Upbeat in tempo, though, not a drum kit in sight, the music on the album is fleshed out around the core instruments of Rob's guitar, and Phil MacnNamara's bass together with their harmony vocals. Added ingredients include slide guitar, auto harp and all the percussion from the box. This album will feel at home in record collections that include Elliot Smith, Paul Simon, Chuck Berry and Nick Lowe.
